PDM Utility Corp. (PDMU) has a contingency plan for managing atmospheric disturbances that is reviewed periodically to meet the operational needs of PDMU and the Palmas del Mar community. The following is a summary of the highlights of this plan:
1. PDMU´s Primary Vision:
a. Provide water/restore sanitary sewer system in affected areas.
b. Provide communication to the community in the event of service interruption.
c. Maintenance plan of emergency generators throughout the facilities.
2. Purpose:
Protect adjacent properties/subscribers from possible damages resulting from the event.
Protect PDMU facilities prior to the event and restoration after the event.
Maintain and restore services, including temporary services if permanent service is unavailable.
Assign responsibilities before/after the event to our staff.
3. Minimum requirements (PDMU Basic Plan):
List of all PDMU assets, as detailed as possible (pictures included).
List and pictures of all interior furnishing at PDMU facilities, including documents, equipment, tools, etc.
List and pictures of all assets located or stand outside our building.
Vehicles and equipment protection.
All infrastructure facilities review. Take photos of the distribution of each one.
Establish a priority scheme for facilities repair if a major damage happens.
4. Protect assets on safe/unsafe facilities.
Before the Event
The activation of this plan begins when the atmospheric event is located within 24 hours of PR. At this stage, gasoline in vehicles, inventory of tools and parts, personal protection equipment, safety supplies are checked and inventory is replenished, if necessary. Non-essential activities are minimized. Water service/sewage treatment service will continue to operate normally.
During the Event
Emergency generators are shut-off for protection and one (1) of the water reservoir tanks is closed to maintain service availability once the potable water piping network is verified. Drinking water cannot be stored in the tanks for more than 48 hours. Sewer pumping into the WWTP will continue until there is a power outage and/or any major condition that prevent the system from operating.
After the Event
Damage assessment to restore operations as soon as possible.
Organize repair crew as needed. Mobilize parts and personnel to affected areas to initiate system recovery.
Re-open facilities to establish damages reports as detailed as possible, including pictures and videos.
Re-open office to serve customer, as the conditions allows.
